Final Review: Angel Eyes

A good melodrama always gets a good ending and I’m glad that’s the case for Angel Eyes. Ending with 20 episodes, the main characters had a long roller coaster ride. With so many ups and down from the beginning of the drama and finally a happy ending.

Before giving my thoughts on the entire show, I do have to say that who ever chose the actors and actresses did a fantastic job, especially the main leads, past and present ^.^ The chemistry between the two leads were adorable. I’m so glad they got a happy ending after everything they went through.

*Spoilers Ahead*

Back to the drama, as I had spoken in my previous post, the main leads met as teenagers and had to separate due to Dong Joo’s sister’s poor health. While they left for America, Soo Wan was left to recover after receiving a donor to allow her to see again. Fast forward to 12 years later and we see both Dong Joo and Soo Wan living normal lives. Dong Joo is the one of the best doctors in Boston and Soo Wan works as a 119 worker (similar to a paramedic). Through the first couple of episodes, we are shown that no matter how long they have been separated, they still miss each other. Unfortunately, Soo Wan does not realize that the man before her is Dong Joo. Dong Joo desperately wants to tell her that it’s him but once he sees her life (a job she loves, a man that she’s “engaged to”, and her father telling him to go back to the U.S) he decides not to tell her and is set to leave. By the outburst of a patient, Dong Joo is finally revealed to Soo Wan and even though she hates him for not letting her know that it is him, she still loves him. Now, here is where the drama starts to get intense.

Not only is Soo Wan’s “fiancee” upset about their ended “engagement” but her father as well. Her “fiancee”, Kang Ji Woon becomes devastated and desperately tries to win her back. At first, I truly did feel sorry for the guy. He was a sweet guy but you could tell he did not have a chance competing with her first love. With her dad, you could see the guilt written all over his face. He couldn’t live with himself after what he had done and after visiting Dong Joo in Boston, their relationship had gotten stronger and was defined as a father and son relationship. Throughout this ordeal, it was either Dong Joo, who found out a secret or it was Soo Wan who found out another and the relationship became strained, but each time with the help of the other they overcame it. That is until we see what truly happen the night of Dong Joo’s mother’s accident.

The drama definitely focused on hardship and forgiveness. What Dong Joo and Soo Wan went through, after finding out the truth about what Soo Wan’s father and Ji Woon’s mother, did definitely destroyed their relationship but it made them start fresh. The love they had as teenagers was pure and impressionable, but by the mistakes caused by the parents, it destroyed it. Soo Wan left with feeling guilt, leaves Dong Joo. By the last two episodes, we see that Dong Joo has been searching for her but Soo Wan has not been found. With the help of Ji Woon, the two are reunited but again the relationship is still strain. It is after seeing Dong Joo get hit by a car and placed in critical care, she realizes her mistake. And the drama ends with this…

Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 1.25.58 AM Like I said before, they main leads were adorable and they had some great happy/adorable scenes together. Hope to see more of them in future projects together or separate ^.^
